If you have never been to the state of Illinois, or if you have never been outside of Chicago on a vacation, you should consider heading down into Morton. It’s a location that is well known in some circles, primarily because the pumpkins. It is a destination that has a pumpkin Festival, one that is world-renowned, as well as the production of pumpkins that are canned. It is a place that you should visit at least once and there are also many other fun filled activities that you can do either by yourself, or with family and friends. This is what you can expect if you decide to visit the small village right outside up your area in central Illinois.

Why Should You Visit Morton?

The first reason that you should consider visiting is that they do have a wonderful pumpkin Festival. It is considered to be the best in the world. Part of the reason has to do with the massive quantity of pumpkin that is processed and canned, distributed all over the world. If you did not know this, you probably would never visit because it would not be on the radar. However, for those that understand how large this operation is, or for those that visit pumpkin festivals every year, this is one of the best ones.

What Else Can You Do When You Get To Morton?

One of the top locations is going to be the park system that they have. These are not national parks but regular parks were you can take your family. Northwood and Southwood Park are very popular because of the beautiful birds you will see in the picnic tables that are there. Birchwood Park is probably a little more popular because you will see geese, ducks, and there is a place that people are able to fish because of all of the planted fish that are in the water.

If your primary goal is to go to the pumpkin Festival, that is understandable. It is one of those destinations that is absolutely fantastic. If you haven’t been there before, you should plan on going. As long as you can get there the second week of September, you can take part in all of the festivities that the thousands of volunteers help set up. It’s a great place to go if you happen to be in Illinois on a vacation during the fall.
